Harold Junior Adkins

Harold Junior Adkins, 89 of Hinton, completed his beautiful journey on this earth Saturday September 12, 2026 following a long illness with his granddaughter Sarah McGuire and great granddaughter McKenzie McGuire at his bedside.

Born on August 27, 1937 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Carl and Croney Ellen Adkins.

Harold worked for the City of Hinton in the Department of Public Works and also owned and operated a television repair shop in Hinton for many years. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, helping raise numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by his entire family and also the community.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jane Kesner Adkins; one son, Harold Junior Adkins, II; two sisters, Barbara Ann Adkins and Mary Madeline Adkins; two grandsons, Floyd Justin Cook and Jason Ray Yopp. Harold was the last member of his immediate family.

Those left to cherish his loving memory include daughters, Carolyn Adkins and companion David Sears of Hinton, WV, Kathy Harvey of Jumping Branch, WV, Bonnie Cook and companion Gene Mills of Barksdale, WV, and Rebecca Yopp, Jeannie Adkins and Betty Jean Adkins and companion Edward Fox, all of Hinton, WV; sons, David Adkins and wife Gayla of Greenville, WV and Russell Adkins of Hinton, WV. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday September 16, 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Cemetery at Hilltop in Hinton, WV. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandson, Danny Cook, great grandsons, Tacoma Cook, Shayden Huff, Leo Chavis, Brayden Huff and nephew, Nickie Adkins. Honorary pallbearers will be; Hayden Martin, David Sears, Gene Mills and Edwards Fox.
