Hiawatha "Dad" Carter, 71 of Hinton died at 2:16 pm. Friday June 22, 2018 at Beckley A.R.H.

Born March 10, 1947 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Hiawatha Pack and Frances June Galloway.

Hiawatha was a local painter for many years in Summers County and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry Carter; one brother, Paul Edward Parks and one sister, Dorothy Carter.

Survivors include three sons; Carlos Davis, Robert Cook and Corey Carter. Four daughters, Carlese Davis, Julie Davis, Star Carter and Katina Smith. Four brothers, Danny, Bobby and Don Galloway and Charles Mitchell Conner, Jr.; four sisters, Sonya Galloway, Phyllis Galloway, Michelle Kpah and Helen Galloway; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday July 7, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. John Burnette officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
