Imogene Mary Farmer Hartsog Dodd of Nimitz, WV passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the age of 99.
Born on July 23, 1926 in Claremont, WV. She was the daughter of the late Edward Jeremiah and Roonie Blanche Frame Farmer.
Imogene spent her childhood in the "coal camps" of Fayette County WV and she was a graduate of Oak Hill High School. She attended the Raleigh General Hospital School of Nursing in Beckley WV and then worked as an RN for 46 years. She was the Coordinator for the Raleigh County Vocational Technical Center's Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
Additionally, she served as the founding director of Plateau Medical Center's first, Home Health program, located in Oak Hill, WV. Imogene was a long-time member of Perry Memorial United Methodist Church in Shady Spring, WV. There she was a member of the United Methodist Women, sang in the choir, and helped with the Easter Egg Ministry.
She lived a remarkable life and enjoyed camping and boating at Summersville Lake. She was the owner of the House of Grandview Bed and Breakfast located in Grandview, WV. Imogene loved flowers and decorating her home and was an avid reader of the newspaper.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Ralph Hartsog and second husband, Gordon Lee Dodd; son, Timothy Edward Hartsog; sister, Elizabeth Stevenson; and brothers, Jimmy Farmer and Larry Farmer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cathy Jean Harvey (Jack) of Nimitz, WV and Lynn Lee Hartsog of Cross Lanes, WV; son Tommy Dale Hartsog (Cindy) of Meridian, ID; sister, Mildred Bokano of California; six grandchildren, Kimberly Annette Harrah (David) of Ghent, WV; Samuel Jason Chadwell of Morristown, TN, Dylan Hartsog (Nichole) of Springfield, MO; Leah DeGrandis (James) of Glade Springs, WV; Adam Edward Hartsog of San Diego, CA, Ashley Leavy of California; three great-grandchildren; Austin Hartsog of Springfield, MO, Macey Hartsog of Springfield, MO and Walker Lincoln Hartsog of San Diego, CA; one sister –in-law Elizabeth Farmer of Waynesboro, VA: a very special friend and neighbor, Greg Lilly of Nimitz, WV; and numerous other extended family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Perry Memorial United Methodist Church in Shady Spring, WV. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rick Crawford officiating. Services will be livestreamed on the Perry Memorial Methodist Facebook page. Interment will take place at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11:00 am. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Imogene to Perry Memorial United Methodist Church: 100 Perry Lane, Shady Spring, WV 25918.
