Irma Jean Maddy, 73, of Nimitz, passed away, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital, after a long illness.

Born February 5, 1947, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Prince Lee and Sylvia Ann Meadows Meador.

Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and yard work.  She was a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church, at Dunns.  Jean graduated from Hinton High School, with the class of 1965.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Mae Lilly, and three brothers, Van Earl Meador, Dewey Meador, and Chester Meador.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Richard, and a son Eric Maddy of Hinton.  Three brothers, Donzie Meador, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Joseph Meador, of Weirton, West Virginia, and Willie Dallas Meador and wife Nancy of Greenfield, Indiana, and one sister Anna Lee Massey and husband Edwin of Daniels, also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, in Hinton, with Pastor Wayne Bolen officiating.  Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, at Pivont Funeral Home.  Those attending should adhere to CDC guidelines, using face masks, and social distancing.
