Jacob Lee Allen, 88, affectionally known as “Jake”, of Hinton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Born on April 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Jasper Jacob Allen and Nina Palmer Allen.
Jake was a proud graduate of Talcott High School and honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force. A lifelong resident of the area, he dedicated his professional career to the railroad, working for many years as a conductor for CSX and later for Amtrak. Jake was a faithful attendee of the Church of Christ and was deeply involved in his community as a member of Hinton Masonic Lodge No. 62 A.F. & A.M., as well as a former member of the Elks.
An avid sports enthusiast, he spent many of his happiest days out on the greens as a passionate golfer and long-time member of the Willowwood Country Club. He also found great peace in the simple pleasures of life, taking immense pride in keeping his yard immaculate and spending afternoons mowing his grass.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Norma June Allen; his sisters, Barbara Jacqueline Allen and Ardella Meadows; his brother, Thomas J. Allen; his nephew, Terry Jackson Meadows; and his great-nephew, Shawn Meadows; and brother-in-law, Phillip "Sonny" Meadows.
Those left to cherish his memory include his special friend and companion, Wilma Angotti; his special nephew, Phillip Meadows and wife Debbie of Hilldale, WV; and his nieces, Kendra Meadows of Glen Morgan, Marcy Kinder of Charleston, Dyneal Garten and husband Jeff of Talcott, and Lagaye Basham and husband Scott of Talcott. He is also survived by several loving great-nieces, great-nephews, and his special friend, Mikey Cales of Hilldale.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV, with Minister Walter Dekle officiating. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will follow immediately at the Woodrumtown Cemetery near Hinton.
