Obituary

James Hawley "Bootie" Ford, 97 of Hinton, passed away Monday February 27, 2023 after a long productive life.

Born December 13, 1925 in Parsons, WV he was the son of the late John Wesley and Jesse Grace Flanigan Ford.

Mr. Ford joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132 in 1943. He then joined the US Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre as a motor machinist mate. He resumed his career with the Operating Engineers and ultimately retired as a business agent for that organization and also having served as its president. His career encompassed work on the Bluestone Dam, Summersville Dam and the bunker at the Greenbrier Resort.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Mclaughlin Ford in 2021 and one brother, John Henry Ford.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Ford and wife Lin and Richard Ford and wife Robin, both of Hinton; one daughter, Robin McNeer and husband Steve of Greenville, WV; five grandchildren, Amy Hashley and husband Mike, John Ford and wife Stacey, Tucker Ford and wife Courtney, Tara Jones and husband Eric and Reed McNeer; special caregivers, Ann Jackson and Sheri Simms.

Graveside services and committal will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday March 7, 2023 at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating.

In lieu  of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church in Hinton.
