James H. "Buck" Cox 69, of Hinton, WV passed away at his home on June 8, 2021, after a long illness.

Born February 6, 1952, in Hinton, he was the son of Howard R. and Pansy L. Hammonds Cox.

Buck was a lifelong resident of Hinton. He began working for the Southern Soil Conservation District after graduating from Hinton High School in 1971. He retired due to illness after 32 years of service.

He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish with his buddy David Meadows.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Bernard "Duke" Cox, Gary R. Cox, and Roger D. Cox with one sister Lola M. Cox.

Buck is survived by one brother, Kenneth R. Cox of Cool Ridge and two sisters, Alice Adkins, and Patricia Meador both of Hinton. Nephews Steven Cox, Jeffrey, Don and Bobby Meador, Randall and Shawn Adkins, Josh and Zac Cox, and Kenny and Tyler Cox. Three nieces Vicky Cox, Tasha Cox, and Brandi Cox. A special great-nephew Isaiah Cox and several cousins that he loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday June 12, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt. Burial will follow in the Farley Cemetery at Pipestem. Friends may call from 12:00 PM until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
