James Thomas Herndon, 73 of Marie, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Monday Dec. 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 25, 1945 in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late James Roy and Ossie Mae Owens Herndon.

Mr. Herndon was a graduate of Bladensburg High School in Bladensburg, Maryland. He was a retried bindery operator in the printing industry and was a member at Countryside Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam era and enjoyed all sports and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy H. Herndon.

Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Dottie Kincaid Herndon. Two half-brothers, Rick Herndon of Barstow, MD and Doug Herndon of Lexington Park, MD. Special nephew and niece, Jeff Herndon and Prinzie Nichol.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday December 22, 2018 at Upland Baptist Church at Upland, WV with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Upland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home, or 1 hour prior to the service Saturday, at the church.

Pallbearers will be; Eric Hicks, Charlie Casto, Bill Lane, Dakota Grimmett, Charlie Fleshman and James Cody.

Honorary pallbearers will be; James Sears, Danny Richmond, Mike Brandon, Gary Sears, Jack Sears, Jim Hart, Todd Yancey, Woody Meeks and Jimmy Romanello.
