James Adkins, Jr., 74 of Meadow Creek, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday December 10, 2015 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a long illness.

Born June 4, 1941 at Meadow Creek, he was the son of the late James Ira and Ercella C. Richmond Adkins. James was a former employee of Arbaugh Contracting in Lewisburg and also the Summers County Court House. He was a member of the Church of Christ at Ramp, enjoyed the outdoors and was the primary caregiver for his parents. He was a lifelong resident of Summers County.

Survivors include a brother, Charles Adkins & wife Monee of Denver, NC. Three sisters, Dorothy Kincaid & husband Dean of Palymra, VA, Berthena Adkins of Sandstone and Janice Buckland & husband Robert of Hinton. Twelve nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 13, 2015 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Lawrence Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Patton Cemetery at Meadow Bridge. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
