James Elwood Meadows, 81 of Daniels, died Monday March 27, 2017 at Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.

Born November 25, 1935 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Carl William and Anna Mae Mann Meadows.

Mr. Meadows was a retired upholsterer, having worked for many years in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton and had lived for many years in Daniels following retirement. Mr. Meadows was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was preceded in death by a son, James E. Meadows, Jr.; four sisters, Lahoma Kessler, Margaret Spade, Jane Wimmer and Imogene Bennett; two brothers, Everette and Billy Carl Meadows.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, along with close friends, James and Carolyn Redden of Daniels.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 30, 2017 at Talcott Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery on Thursday.
