James L. Miller, 73 of Hinton died Tuesday March 14, 2017 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a short illness.

Born March 25, 1943 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Lynn and Polly Miller.

Mr. Miller was a graduate of Hinton High School and was a retired clerk for CSX Transportation Corporation in Hinton with 33 years of service. He was also a former employee of the Hinton YMCA, the Hinton Skating Rink, G.C. Murphy Company in Hinton, WMTD Radio in Hinton and WJLS Radio in Beckley. He was President of the Summers County Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Summers County Ruritan Club and also a member of the Summers County Democratic Executive Committee. Jim also provided music at various functions throughout the area for clubs and organizations. He was a member of Sand Knob United Methodist Church at Nimitz.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Miller, one brother, Charles Miller and a special cousin and best friend, Tommy Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lane Miller; one sister, Sue Ellen Grover and husband Steve of Allentown, PA; sister-in-law, Yerda Miller of Toledo, OH; aunts and uncles, Keith and Elsie Bias, Charles and Marti Bias, Shirley and Dallas Wicker, Jackie Bias and Janice Bias; special cousin-in-law, Sallie Miller and special friends, Chuck and Sherri Gwinn. Numerous nieces, nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 17, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Don Hannah, Penny Blevins and Melissa White officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Phillip Maddy, Gordie Hardy, Chuck Gwinn, Jack Whittaker, Claude Hogle, Darrell Lilly and Jack Lester.
