Obituary

James McKinley Richmond, 90 of Elkview, formerly of Sandstone went to be with our Lord Saturday June 23 rd , 2018 after a long illness.

Born June 20, 1928 at Prince,  WV he was the son of the late Carl and Lorena Vandall Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was a retired Materials Control Coordinator for the WV Department of Highways with 25 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, attending at Sissonville, WV. He liked to tell stories and enjoyed all family gatherings, large or small. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George Anthony Richmond, one brother, George Alvis Richmond and one sister, Edna Lucille Richmond.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 66 years, Delores Surbaugh Richmond; two daughters, Deborah Dodrill of Liberty, WV and Sharon "Bev" Young and husband Faron of Jumping Branch, WV.; two sons, Michael Richmond and wife Marie of Leechburg, PA and Broderick (Vince) Richmond and wife Debbie of Pinch, WV; a twin brother, Charles W. Richmond of Meadow Creek, WV; three wonderful grandchildren, Andrew Richmond and wife Jordan of Barboursville, WV, Brett Dodrill of Poca, WV, and Michael W. Richmond and wife Elizabeth of Ogden, UT; step-grandchildren, Shelly Barnes and husband Jason of Buchanan, VA, John Uldrich and wife Erin of Bardstown, KY and Carrie Todd of Pinch, WV; precious great grandchildren, Aidan, Lanie and Gavin Richmond of Barboursville, WV, Chloe Richmond of Ogden, UT, Emily and Rebekah Barnes of Buchanan, VA, Emily and Owen Uldrich of Bardstown, KY and Colbey Todd of Pinch, WV. He will also be missed by his many beloved friends in the family of God.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday June 28, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Minister Steve Poyet officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
