Janice Marilyn Buckland, age 80, of Meadow Creek, went to her eternal home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born on May 17, 1943 in Meadow Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Ira and Ercelle Richmond Adkins.

Janice was a 1963 graduate of Sandstone High School and received some training in nursing skills post-graduation. She was an excellent homemaker and provided caregiving services for the elderly. She attended the Church of Christ.  She loved to cook and take pictures and spent some of her free time painting and doing a variety of crafts. Janice was a devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.  She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Buckland, in 2019 and brothers, Charles Adkins and Jimmy Adkins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Stephanie Bowden and husband, Ira of Princeton, WV and Valerie Murrell and husband, Wayne of Roanoke, VA; sisters, Dorothy Kincaid of Palmyra, VA and Berthena Adkins of Sandstone, WV; grandchildren, Nicholas Bowden, Dwayne, Aliyah, Kayla, and Mya Murrell; several nieces and nephews; friends at the Hinton House.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating.  Burial will follow in the Patton Cemetery at Meadow Bridge.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
