Janie F. Cooper, aged 79, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the CAMC Teays Valley Hospital in Hurricane, WV.

Born on September 19, 1946 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Venie Marie Smith Farley.

Janie was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who brought warmth to everyone she met.  She was a dedicated employee, bringing care and commitment to her work at the Senior Citizen Center in Hinton.  As a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, she lived a life of faith and service.

Janie found great joy in the beauty of nature through gardening, crafting, and creating cherished memories while traveling.  However, her greatest passion was her family.  She was a deeply affectionate mother and grandmother who adored her grandchildren and loved her pets with all her heart.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jerry Alton Cooper and one grandson, Justin Purdy.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeff Cooper of Nimitz, WV; daughter, Jennifer Cooper of Beaver, WV; former son-in-law, Marvin Purdy; grandson, Josh Purdy (Ashley); great granddaughter, Amelia Purdy.

At her request, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Nimitz, WV with Pastor Butch Honaker officiating.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
