Obituary

Jerry Dean Grant, passed away, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at his home, following a sudden illness.

Jerry Dean Grant, known by many as J.D., was born, August 16, 1964, at Jacksonville, North Carolina.  He  lived every day with an adventurous heart—whether riding horses, feeling the wind on his motorcycle, or gathering friends for a lively game of pool or karaoke. His presence was unmistakable, and he never shied from a challenge or a good time.

J.D. was the proud father of Wyatt Grant, Joshua Grant and Samantha Irwin, who were his pride and joy. He leaves behind his friend Andrea Grant, many nieces and nephews who each held a special place in his heart. Just as importantly, he is remembered by countless friends, people from all walks of life who found in J.D. a loyal companion, a steadfast supporter, and a source of laughter and fun. For him, friendship was as essential as family, and the lines between the two were often beautifully blurred.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joshua Grant; mother, Geraldine Grant; father, Lewis Grant; brother, Lewis Grant Jr. ("Snooks"); Constance Tolbert; and Charlie Robert Grant.

J.D. found freedom in horseback riding and excitement in motorcycle journeys, always seeking a new adventure. Whether at the pool table or among friends with a karaoke microphone in hand, J.D. infused every gathering with energy and music, making each moment memorable. Music, laughter, and camaraderie were his trademarks, and he enjoyed every opportunity to create joy for those around him.

Known for his stubbornness and strong will, J.D. was unwaveringly loyal to those who meant the most to him. He spoke his mind, loved fiercely, and showed his affection through his actions. His stubborn kindness and big-hearted nature made him unforgettable to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

As we remember J.D., we picture him setting off on a new adventure—fearless, carefree, and singing one of his favorite songs. He leaves behind a family, a legion of friends. Jerry Dean Grant (J.D.)—a devoted father, loyal friend, rider, pool player, karaoke singer, and true original—will be forever missed by those close to him and never forgotten.

Though J.D. has taken his final ride, the road he traveled left a lasting trail – in every memory, every laugh, and every life he touched.  He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.

Ride free, Jerry. Your journey doesn't end here — it just changes roads.
