Jewel Juanita Smith, 94, of Alderson, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Peyton Hospice House.

Born on April 21, 1929 in Lindside, WV, Jewel was the daughter of the late Cecil Broyles and Rachel Reynolds Broyles.

Jewel worked for the Council on Aging at the Hinton Senior Center.  She had an earlier career at Kirk's restaurant.  She attended Alderson United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, but her absolute favorite way to spend her time was doing anything with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by many, but never forgotten.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Smith; sister, Ann Carter; and brother, Cecil Broyles, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Tommy Smith (Drema) of Wagener, SC and David Smith (April) of Pound, VA; daughters, Martha Christian of Alderson, WV and Brenda Dominick (Danny) of Wayside, WV; 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 11, 2023, at Pivont Funeral Chapel in Hinton, WV with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Church Cemetery at Keenan, WV.  Friends may call from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on December 11, 2023 at the funeral home.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
