Obituary

Jimmy H. Tolbert, 76, of Dunlap, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, June 6, at his home.

Born in Hinton, August 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Claude and Myrtle Tolbert.  Reared on a farm in Hinton, West Virginia, he knew the meaning of hard work.  He drove a bus for 30 years in Cleveland, Oho, where he drove many celebrities, such as the Russian Ballet company, the Denver Broncos football team, and other sports teams.  He participated in and won several Bus Rodeo competitions.  He also drove for the 2002 Olympics, held in Utah.  When he moved to Tennessee, he drove a school bus as well as sanitation trucks.

He loved bluegrass music, and had a warm sense of humor, telling funny stories and jokes.  Jimmy also had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and would keep a bag of dog food in his truck to feed strays he would see as he drove up and down the mountain.

He was loved by his family and friends. He had two special neighbors who were like family, Ron and Rhonda Darby, who helped in Jimmy's health care, and were there anytime they were needed.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, a son Keith Tolbert, three daughters, Sandra Lilly, Pamela Hill and husband Carl, Casey Salo, and husband Ryan, three stepsons, Ray Knierim, Jack Mauney and wife Tammy, Richard Mauney, and wife Maria, and two stepdaughters, Virginia Queen, and husband Charlie, and Leslie Hendricks, and husband Todd.  Two brothers, Johnny Tolbert and wife Linda, and Paul Tolbert and wife Connie, and a sister Anna Graham, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nephews and nieces, also survive.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 9, 2017, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Cecil Cox officiating.  Burial will follow at the Tolbert Family Cemetery, at Elk Knob.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.
