John Strong Clark of Hinton, WV earned his wings and flew high to join his beloved family on February 15th, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Tice Clark & Rachel Ann Kissel Clark, and his Wife and Soulmate of many years Teri Vaughn Clark.

John is survived by his Sons Noah Strong Clark and Chris Hatcher & wife Melanie, Daughter Ginny Hatcher, and Grandchildren Alexis, River, Alesia Strong, Chloe, Michael & Terra.

John was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 19th, 1950. He graduated from Marshall University with a Fine Arts Degree and traveled all over the nation until he became a permanent resident of Hinton in the 70's. He was a Jack of all trades and, yes, a master of some. He and Teri ran the Bluegrass Printing Press. He was a River Guide, Storyteller, Musician, Artist, Historian, Naturalist, and a Gardner with a natural green thumb. Many Amtrak traveler's experienced his beautiful landscaping passing by while others got a closer look as he greeted the trains each week to welcome people to Hinton. The knowledge he sought to learn, he shared to others in many forms. Whether they knew it or not.

His "Wolf Den" was a meeting spot where a melting pot of citizens and visitors could stop by for a game of horseshoes, a pottery or candle-making lesson, or even a can of food or a good hug and a story. He provided a safe place where you could be you, no matter who you are. He told many stories and was eager to share, but the story of Woodstock is the one he silently took with him.

As he wished, John was cremated by Pivont Funeral Home and A Celebration of Life will be held at the Summers County Memorial Building on February 26th, 2022 at 5:00pm with a Spaghetti Dinner catered by River City Grill & Pub. Please bring any written stories and/or photos to be included in the "The Life of John Strong Clark", a compilation book that is being created in his memory.
