It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of John Rodney Ford, who left us on July 8, 2025 after a short illness.
Born in Morgantown, WV on August 2, 1949, he was the son of the late James H. and Marie McLaughlin Ford.
Rodney was a graduate of Hinton High School class of 1967. He attended Concord College and received an associate degree from Beckley College. He was drafted into the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed by CSX for 35 years as a brakeman/conductor on the New River. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hinton.
His hobbies consisted of golfing and woodworking, which included numerous pieces of handcrafted furniture. He also enjoyed yard work and working on home projects with his son. He and his wife loved spending time in South Carolina with his daughter and grandchildren.
Rodney was a hard-working man who will be remembered for his integrity and humor, all of which he passed on to his family.
He was the beloved husband of Lin Willey Ford for 55 years. They built a life of happiness with deep love, laughter and respect.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Lin of Hinton, WV. Daughter, Amy Hashley (Mike) of Goose Creek, SC; Son, John (Stacy) of Hinton, WV. Grandchildren, Evan, Alex and Avery Hashley all of Goose Creek, SC. One brother, Rick Ford (Robin) of Hinton, WV and one sister, Robin McNeer (Steve) of Greenville, WV.
Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a private service at a later date.
