John Thomas Rider, 76 of Laurel, Maryland, formerly of Hinton died Monday September 30, 2019 at his home following a long illness.

Born March 15, 1943 at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Julius and Zelda Ward Rider.

Tom was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to Elvis Pressley. He especially loved his family and will be missed by them all.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Zelda Opal Rider. Two brothers, Lewis and Jerry Rider and a granddaughter, Aubrey Ann Krampf.

Survivors include his children; Elizabeth "Beth Ann" Sager (Michael) of Laurel, MD, John Thomas Rider, Jr. (Jennifer) of Annapolis, MD, Angela Luck (Scotty) of Fort Lawn, SC and John Robert Rider (Melissa) of Edgemore, SC. One brother, Michael Rider (Linda) of Talcott. One sister, Norma Jean Meadows of Charleston, WV. Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday October 4, 2019 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton. Burial will follow in the Cooper Cemetery at Sandstone. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
