Johnny Lee Mann, 54 of Marie, died Thursday May 27, 2021 at Sandstone, WV following a sudden illness.

Born December 27, 1966 in Hinton, he was the son Darrell and Janice Sears Mann of Hinton.

Johnny was a 1985 graduate of Hinton High School and attended Concord College. Always a hard worker, early on in life he was employed by the Corps of Engineers at Bluestone Dam, Silo Ice Company and Gore's Autobody.

Johnny's career in public service began first as a patrolman for the City of Hinton Police, and later as Chief of Police, becoming the youngest Chief of Police in the State of West Virginia. He was also a member for many years of the Hinton Volunteer Fire Department. Following his employment with the City of Hinton, Johnny transitioned to the Beckley Fire Department where he retired with a rank of Captain with 21 ½  years of service. He also served as Fire Marshall for the City of Beckley. Following retirement, Johnny was currently employed by the WV Department of Highways until the time of his passing. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing and riding his Harley-Davidson. He was a lifelong resident of Summers County and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church at Red Sulphur Springs.

Johnny's affection for his grandchildren was unequaled. He adored them all and was eager to welcome two additional little boys to his family. His legacy will live on in each of their lives and he enjoyed every minute he spent with them.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ershal and Elizabeth Mann and maternal grandparents, Leonard and Edith Sears.

Survivors include his parents, Darrell and Janice Sears Mann of Hinton; one son, Sean Mann and wife Amber of Hilldale and one daughter, Alexis Mann and fiance' Trey Bower of Greenville; two brothers Darrell Mann, Jr. of Hinton and Jason Lynn Mann and wife Jessica of King, NC; three grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jaxson and Ezra, along with two expectant grandsons; two nieces, Emily and Sadie Mann as well as a host of cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday June 3, 2021 at Pivont  Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Derrick Leslie officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday  evening at the funeral home.  Interment will be private.
