Josephine Sue Standard, 72, of Pence Springs, WV, passed away on Thursday, September, 7, 2023.

Mrs. Standard was born June 10, 1951 in Hinton, WV, a daughter of the late Betty Smith.

She was a graduate from Talcott High School and was a longtime employee for McDonald's in Lewisburg. Josephine attended Second Baptist Church in Talcott. She loved cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her mother, Josephine was preceded in death by two sons, Shane Alexander Standard and James Michael Standard; two brothers, Bobby Smith and Chuck Gore.

Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years, James Standard; two daughters, Melissa Standard of Durham, NC and Kari Standard of Pence Springs, WV; sister in law, Louise Standard of Lowell, WV; brothers, Jerry Gore, Dean Gore, and Timmy Smith all of Hungards Creek; sisters, Dinah Smith of Charleston, WV and Brenda Gore of Roanoke, VA; grandson, Shaun Wharton; nieces, Mia Standard, Anissa Standard, Jennifer Thompson, Felicia Smith; nephews, Patrick Standard, Joti Gore and great-nephew, Hunter Standard; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Brian Copney officiating. Burial will follow at the Talcott Cemetery at Talcott, WV. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Wynes, Timmy Wynes, Mike Wynes, Shaun Wharton, Hunter Standard, Patrick Standard and Honorary Ronald Gore.
