Joyce Jacqueline
Fernatt
Jul 21, 1936 — Jan 21, 2025
Hinton
Joyce Jacqueline (Dickens) Fernatt born July 21, 1936 to Willard Dickens and Dolly (Blevins) Dickens passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. Known as Jackie, she was the loving wife of William "Bill" Fernatt and the proud mother of five children, who did no wrong in her eyes. Jackie was known for her sweet, quiet and gentle spirit and her greatest love was her family and rocking on the porch on their farm in Hinton, West Virginia. Jackie was the world record holder in the eyes of her family for the best biscuits and gravy and cornbread. She was as sweet as her fudge and loved with her hugs, not necessarily in words.
Jackie loved the Lord and was saved as a young teenager. She met her husband at church service and that night he walked her home and they have been walking together every day since for 68 years.
Jackie was predeceased in death by her parents and her brothers, Daniel and James Dickens and her sisters, Jewell Ann Dickens and Bonnie Perdue. She was also predeceased by her son, William "Billy" Fernatt, who was born on her birthday.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Bill, and four children, Eddie (Becky) Fernatt, Greg (Teena) Fernatt, Darrell (Betty) Fernatt and Sherry (Ron) Alphin. She is survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.
A celebration of life will be held on January 25, 2025 at Bible Baptist Church, 2071 Robert C Bryd Drive, Beckley, West Virginia at 12:30 p.m. The family will meet at Pivont Funeral Home, 100 Park Avenue in Hinton at 3:00 p.m. and will take Jackie to her final earthly resting place in the family cemetery on the farm on Zion Mountain.
Special appreciation is given to Sandy Meador and the loving staff at Stonerise Nursing Home on Harper Road who loved Jackie as their own and helped take the best care of her for the short time she was in their care.
