Mrs. Joyce A. Ritter, 89 of 306 Miller Ave. Hinton passed away Friday May 9, 2025 at her home following a long illness.

Joyce was born January 5, 1936 in Hinton, a daughter of the late Rheo E. and Floye E. Boone Meador.

Joyce was a 1953 graduate of Hinton High School and was homecoming queen her senior year. She retired as executive secretary to the Summers County Commission and was a member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Hinton. Joyce enjoyed bridge club and Bunco group but most of all she loved being with her family. She was a lifelong resident of Hinton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rhett; two brothers, Rheo "Bob" Meador and Harry Meador; two sisters, Wilma F. Maddy and Betty Simpson.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Davis W. "Tink"; one son, Davis W, III; three daughters, Robin Giles and husband Ted, Sarah Wheby and husband Frank and Leslie Ritter; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, one expectant great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday May 14, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Gary Trout officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Sara Cales and staff, Summers County A.R.H. Emergency Department, Mark Ellison and the staff at Big 4 Drug in Hinton, and all the nurses at Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
