Juanita Opal Boone, 87 of Hilldale, WV passed away Sunday August 16, 2020 after a long illness.

Born December 26, 1932 in Alderson, WV she was the daughter of the late Rube and Ethel Hedrick Ayers.

After graduating Alderson High School in 1950, she began her almost 44 year career as a Head Checker for Kroger Corporation in Hinton. The first year of employment at Kroger she met the love of her life and husband to be, Benny Boone, who was also a first year employee at Kroger. The two dated and then wrote letters when Benny was drafted to serve in the Korean War. Benny proposed while serving his country and on a brief holiday leave, came home and married Juanita to start their almost 67 year journey of marriage. Juanita and Benny worked together in the same Kroger until they retired together 44 years later setting a record for years' service for a married couple working in the same store for Kroger. Juanita while working those 44 years also traveled across WV to newly opened stores as a Head Checker trainer and taught checker training at the Womens' State Prison in Pence Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sharon Sizemore.

She is survived by her husband, Benny Boone; daughter, Kathy Boone of Hinton; son, Bryan Boone & wife Cindy of Hilldale; grandsons, Brandon Boone & fiancee' Karlee Furrow & Bella, Cody Boone & fiancee' Miranda Billings, son-in-law, Clark Sizemore of Hilldale; grandsons, Philip Sizemore and Shelly Clark & Drew, Jeremy Sizemore & Jack, Cara, Kevin, & Andrew; two brothers, Charles Ayers & wife Susie and David Ayers & wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Brenda Cooper and several nieces and nephews.

Juanita started her Christian life at Flat Mountain Baptist Church where she sang and played the piano as a young girl and continued many years of serving by playing the piano and organ and singing in choir and quartettes and on special occasions as a duet with her husband at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church and then as a member of River Valley Baptist Church every Sunday morning and evening and Wednesday night service until failing health prevailed. Juanita was also known to fill in for church pianists when asked at many other local churches and played for many weddings and funerals.

Juanita lived a true Christian life. She was always kind to others, compassionate, loving, giving and worried about others before herself. She was a great encourager and shared her faith and love to whomever she met. As a mother, she cooked many family meals every Sunday after church, Christmas, and Thanksgiving dinners for family and extended family, and for many church homecomings over the years while working a full time job. She also enjoyed raising a garden, canning until midnight, and up to prepare breakfast for her children and get them to school. She not only saw to it her family attended church and youth services, but really lived her life as a true example. She truly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed more than words can say.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday August 19, 2020 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Church Cemetery at Forest Hill. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank Rockin Chair Residential Care for the care and support shown to Juanita during her time there.
