Obituary

Judith Belle Boyd Long, of Talcott, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020, at her home following an extended illness.

Born January 6, 1947, at Hinton, she was the daughter of the late C.W. "Billy" and Vada Lively Boyd of Talcott.

Judy graduated from Talcott High School in 1965, and from the C & O Hospital School of Nursing in l968.  She also earned a BSN degree from West Virginia University in 1994.

Judy worked as a Registered Nurse in Virginia and West Virginia, and spent most of her career teaching nursing at the Summers County School of Practical Nursing.  She was a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Talcott.  She belonged to the Summers County Association of Retired School Employees, was a 4-H Volunteer Leader, and a Read Aloud Volunteer at Talcott Elementary School.  Judy enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, and traveling in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane Huddleston, and Mary Lou Lynch, and an infant brother, Charles Olen Boyd.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lynn Long, of Talcott.  Four children, Susan McCauley and husband Andy of Elkins, Sarah Johnson and husband David, of Princeton, Laura Sexton and husband Jonathan of Union, South Carolina, and Charlie Long of Frankford, one sister, Martha Gill of Huntington, and eight grandchildren, John McCauley, Billy McCauley, and Michael McCauley, Rachel Belle Johnson, Rebecca Johnson, and Leah Johnson, and Clara Long and Lillian Long, also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at the Trinity United Methodist Church at Talcott, with Rev. Tim Halloran and Rev. Gary Reed officiating.  Burial will follow at the Keller Presbyterian Church Cemetery, at Lowell.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.  Due to CDC guidelines, a limited amount of  people will be allowed in the church at a time.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Care of Lewisburg, Gracie Meadows and Brenda Thomas, for compassionate nursing care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, at Talcott, c/o Wanda Ball, P. O. Box 108, Talcott, WV 24981.
