Karen Sue Ewing, 61 of Hilldale passed away Saturday August 22, 2020 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a long illness.

Born March 3, 1959 in Ronceverte, she was the daughter of Thelda Wykle Cales and husband Danvel of Pipestem and the late William Spellman.

Karen was a special lady who became ill at an early age. She persevered through many years with the loving care and support of her mother and those who assisted at Summers Nursing & Rehab Center. She was a Christian and truly a light to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Spellman.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Thelda Wykle Cales and Danvel of Pipestem; one daughter, Tonya Keaton & husband Bill of Hilldale; half-sister, Michelle Cales of Pipestem and two grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services and burial were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday August 25, 2020 at Restwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Ronnie Cobb officiating.
