Karen Elizabeth Moriarty, 65, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following a long illness.

She was born September 9, 1953, in Hinton, and was a daughter of Mary Carol Cales Elmore, and the late Robert "Bobby" Cales.

Karen enjoyed careers as a hair stylist and florist before she retired.  She had a spirit for life and loved her children and grandchildren greatly.  She will be deeply missed by all.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael G. Patterson.

Karen met her second husband, Patrick M. Moriarty, in 2004 and they were married.  He survives her, along with a daughter, Sara A. Patterson; a dear friend Susan E. Albers; a son Ion B. Patterson, and wife Michelle E.; and five grandchildren, Katie, Tori, Alex, Ivy, and A. J. Patterson; and her step-father Richard Elmore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, in Hinton, with Pastor Mathew O'Meara officiating.  Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Powleys Creek.  Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
