Karl Edward Koenig, 63 of Hinton, WV went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2017 following a sudden illness.

Born February 25, 1953 at Denvill, NJ he was the son of the late Edward and Ann Alexkey Koenig.

Karl was a retired conductor for CSX Transportation Corporation in Hinton. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Karl was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Koenig; his in laws, Robert Ball and Pete and Scotty Donat and a nephew, Shannon Bartgis.

Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Joni Koenig; a daughter, Trish Koenig Coffman of Shady Spring and Brian Okes of Blue Jay; two sons, Karl Allan Koenig and Shannon Comuzie of Hinton and David Whitney Koenig and wife Amanda of Waynesboro, VA; ten grandchildren, Hunter, Myles and Mallee Coffman all of Shady Spring, Ethan, Emily and Taylor Koenig all of Hinton, Madison and Morgan Comuzie both of Charleston, WV and Braxton and Mason Koenig both of Waynesboro, VA ; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lyn and Garry Carver of Wellborn, FL, Lou and Kent Bartgis of Hinton, WV and James and Diane Ball of Chesapeake, OH; nieces and nephews, Molly Germany, Terry Webster, Betsy and Charles Reagor, Sarah Mixion, Brian and Lisa Bartgis, Kari and Chris Vicars, Candy and Don James, Reed Webster, Wade Webster, Jake Cross, Connar Cross, Grayson Rigsby, Charlotte Reagor, Sean Reagor, Marylyn and Sean Fusco, David Mixion, Trista and Shaun Jones, Garrett Bartgis, Bailee Bartgis, Laci Sears, Will Sears, Sam Sears, Zack James, Cody James and Amber Jones. Good friends, Timmy Bragg, Joe Clinebell, Dave Keys, Timmy Adkins and Billy Hodge.

Per Karl's wishes, there will be no services. There will be a picnic and story-telling in his honor in the early spring, his favorite time of the year, for friends and family. "You will be missed my Bear!"
