Katherine Marie Hartwell, 84 of Zion Mountain, died Tuesday September 11, 2018 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a brief illness.

Born November 11, 1933 at Blue Jay, WV she was the daughter of James O. Ball and Lena Hall.

Katherine was a graduate of Montgomery High School. She was a former section manager for Dryden Rubber Corporation in Chicago, Illinois. Katherine was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick wit and humor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hartwell.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Hartwell and wife Nancy of Green Sulphur Springs and Jack Hartwell and wife Pat of Hinton. One daughter, Brenda Williams and husband Jimmy of Hinton. Six grandchildren, Missy Ward, Mark Williams, Eric and Jarod Hartwell, Joey Hartwell and Kim Cole. Eight great grandchildren, Megan Smith, Zachary Ward, Katelyn Ward, Sophia Hartwell, Chase Cole, Chanting Cole, Landon Williams, Abbey Williams and Abel Hartwell. One great, great grandchild, Macie Smith.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13th, 2018 at the Willey Cemetery on Zion Mountain, with Pastor Sonny Angell officiating.There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Buck Hartwell, Ronnie Hartwell, Steve Pack, Thural P. Adkins, Kent Bartgis, Joey Hartwell, and Doug Hartwell, honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Turner, Tommy Turner, Ralph Hartwell, Roger Hartwell, Rodney Hartwell, George Feamster, and "Tater" Hartwell.
