Mrs. Katherine Abbott Holt of Hinton, West Virginia, died peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Born on May 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Nancy and John Abbott.

Mrs. Holt was a graduate of the College of St. Mary's of the Springs. She taught in the Raleigh County school system for 36 years and retired from Park Junior High School. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton, actively participated in several social clubs, and volunteered in various church and community projects.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delegate Jack E. Holt; stepson, Jack A. Holt Jr.; brother, Frank Abbott, and his wife, Nadine; sisters, Mrs. Okie (Santa) Thompson and Mary Catherine Abbott; nieces, Mrs. John (Frankie) Thompson, Kimberly Anne Abbott, and Mrs. Carolyn Thompson; and nephew, Okie Thompson Jr.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Holt, of Wilmington, NC; her nephew, John Thompson, of Norfolk, VA; and her niece, Nancy Truman, and her husband, Tom, of Beckley, WV. She is also survived by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 12:00 pm at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Beckley, WV with Fr. Leonard Smith and Fr. Bao T. Nguyen, S.V.D. concelebrating.  Rite of committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley, WV. Friends may visit the family at Pivont Funeral Home on Friday from 9 am until 11:15 am where a Rosary prayer service will be held at 10:30 am.
