Obituary

Kathy Jean Bennett, age 60, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kathy grew up in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Louisville, KY before spending most of her adult life in Hinton, WV.

Kathy was a Registered Nurse, graduating from Bluefield State College in 1992. During her career, Kathy worked at Summers County ARH as well as Raleigh General Hospital, CAMC, and Beckley ARH. She loved her work, especially the years that she spent caring for surgical patients as an operating room nurse. Kathy nursed patients until the day she was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She always gave the best of herself to others.

Kathy enjoyed researching family genealogy, travelling to historical landmarks, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She and Gary attended Central Baptist Church, where Kathy's beloved father pastored for many years.

Kathy was preceded in death by her brother Robert Lee Moore, Jr., her mother
Norma Kay Moore, and her father Robert Lee Moore.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gary Ray Bennett; 6 children and their families, including Erin & Brian Angell (Alex & Justice, Corey, Jonathan, Sarah, Sophia, Susannah); Nathan & Anastasia Eerenberg (Schyler, Ariana,
Trinity, Annalise); Brian & Jennifer Eerenberg (Kaden, Isabella, Julianna, Alessandra); Timothy & Sheri Eerenberg (Trevor, Matthew, William, Ethan, Rhyan, Kaitlyn); Joshua and Rachael Eerenberg; and Rebecca & Jeffrey McLaughlin (Paisley, Sutton, Emryn, Georgia). Kathy had 24 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, Caroline. She is also survived by 1 brother and 4 sisters, John & Joy Moore; Peggy & Don Paul; Connie Moore; Jennifer & Tim Moran, & Beth & Jason Malczewski.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 20, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
