Lacy Ronald Bennett, Sr., 79 of Blacksburg, VA passed away Saturday February 12, 2022 at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital following a short illness.

Born August 29, 1942 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Lacy D. and Margie Davis Bennett.

Mr. Bennett was former employee of Merck Corporation for 21 years. He also was the co-owner of a lawn care business, was a contractor and involved in building maintenance. He was a kind and caring man who was an avid outdoorsman. He loved his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Darrell Bennett and one daughter, Deana Jo Bennett and also by one brother, Danny Ray Bennett.

Survivors include one son, Lacy Ronald Bennett, Jr. of Blacksburg, VA; one daughter Dana Marie Bennett of Atlanta, GA; former wife and caregiver,  Theta Shipe of Blacksburg. VA; one brother, Darrell Bennett and wife Brenda of Meadow Bridge, WV; one sister, Jo Ellen Zickafoose and husband Elbert of Detroit, MI; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday February 15, 2022 at the King Cemetery at Sandstone. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton.
