Lenzy  Eugene  Zickafoose, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Summers Healthcare Center in Hilldale following a long illness.

Born on March 17, 1936 in Elton, WV, Lenzy was the son of the late Robert Carl and Lela Virginia Gwinn Zickafoose.

Lenzy was employed by Anderson's Paving Company for several years before forming his own paving and roofing company, Zickafoose Roofing and Paving. He also was a farmer and loved tending livestock, gardening and all aspects of country life. He was an avid outdoorsman, prolific squirrel hunter and an excellent cook. In addition to all these things, Lenzy especially loved riding his vintage Jeep throughout the hills of West Virginia. He was a Christian and member of the Springdale Church of Christ and will be missed immensely by his family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alfreda Flanagan Zickafoose; second wife, Nelda Duncan Zickafoose; two sons, Rocky Allen and Danny R. Zickafoose; two daughters, Lawana Brothers and Sharon Whitkamper; two grandsons, Stephen Whitkamper and Derrick Zickafoose and three brothers, Junior, Julian and Ernie Zickafoose and one sister Helen Harless.

Left to cherish his memory include a son, Lenzy A. Zickafoose and wife Vicky of Backus Mountain, WV, a daughter, Lana Smith and husband Chuck of Randleman, NC; two sisters, Mildred Pomeroy of Brooklyn, MD and Mary Hicks and husband David of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Harris, Amy Zickafoose, Krista Zickafoose, Jason Zickafoose, Josh Brothers and Jeremy Campbell; great grandchildren, Easton Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Bryce Derry, Lela Crookshanks, Adaleigh Brothers and Carter Harris; step-sons, Floyd Duncan and wife Brenda of Meadow Bridge, Steve Duncan and wife Mary Pat of Hinton, Stan Duncan and wife Donna of Hinton, Bill Duncan and wife Kathy of Pickerington, OH and Blaine Duncan of North Washington Courthouse, OH.  Step- grandchildren,  Shannon, Timmy (Kathleen), Scott (Mary Kate), Ashley, Heather,  Jordan (Stacy), Jillian and Gabriel (Leslie). A close friend, Roger Fitzwater and many nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate Lenzy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 16th, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Mike Tubert officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in McElhenney Cemetery at Grassy Meadows, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
