Obituary

Lester Ray Ward, 65, of Sandstone, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021, in Beckley, West Virginia.

He was born, November 25, 1955, at Hinton, and was the son of  the late Milous and Opal Ward.

Lester was a timberman by trade, and of the Baptist faith.  He enjoyed canning, gardening, hunting, and the outdoors, and enjoyed the company of his beloved dog, Cane.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Doc and Lillie Ward.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Stacy Ward of Hix, and Heather Richardson and husband Robbie of Hinton, and his former wife Rebecca Ward of Hinton. Two brothers, Ronald "Penny" Ward of Chestnut Mountain, and Richard "Ricky" Ward, of Tennessee, three sisters, Edith Bennett of Judson, Nancy Kesner and husband Delwood, and Charlotte Morrison, all of Chestnut Mountain, and five grandchildren, Deven Bennett, Jacob Cook, J. D. Cook, Bricen Richardson, and Jasmine Ward also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Harry Allen officiating.  Burial will follow at the Ray Ward Cemetery, at Hix.

Pallbearers are Josh Cales, Carlos Davis, Colton Davis, Steven "Cocky" Brown, and Delwood Kesner.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service on Sunday, at the Pivont Funeral Home.  Those attending should adhere to CDC guidelines, using face masks and social distancing.
