Obituary

Linda Carol Ward, 72 of Hinton, passed away Monday May 9, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley following a long illness.

Born February 24, 1950 at Sandstone, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Russell Sr. and Nannie M. Gunter Vandall.

Carol was a homemaker. She also previously attended Community Christian Church in Hinton. She loved the outdoors, enjoying camping and fishing as well as cooking and canning. She never met a stranger and everyone was welcome around her. Carol loved her family dearly and they will miss her.

She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Lee "Peanut"Ward; four brothers, Harvey R. Jr., Thomas, Charles E. and Delbert Lee Vandall and one sister, Julia Ayers.

Survivors include a son, James Ward of Hinton; three sisters, Jo Ann Burdette of Sandstone, Mary M. Vandall of Hinton and Judy Hartwell and husband Ralph of Zion Mountain; four grandchildren, Kaylee Stump and husband Jon of Riner, VA and Stephen, Brian and Joshua Ward, all of Jumping Branch; two great grandchildren, Kenzie and Cayden Stump; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including a special nephew, Justin Ward also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 14, 2022 at Sandstone Baptist Church with Pastors Jackie Ward and Scott Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the Fink Cemetery on Swell Mountain, Sandstone. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
