Linden Sidney Worden, 98 of Hinton, formerly of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away Monday August 9, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.
Born February 6, 1923 in New Bedford, Mass, he was the son of the late Robert and Ida Faulkner Worden.
Mr. Worden was retired from the retail industry, having worked for Cumberland Farms, Inc. for many years. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II having received the Presidential Citation for participating in a German submarine capture. He was a former Ham Radio enthusiast and an avid reader. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in West Palm Beach, Florida and had been a resident of Summers County for a month, residing with his daughter.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rhea Aubut Worden in 1999; also by one brother, Robert Worden.
Survivors include one son, Stephen Worden and wife Kelly of New Bedford, MA and two daughters, Marilyn McKillop and husband James of Walpole, MA and Lynne Bauer and husband John of Hinton, with whom he resided; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.
Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton at a later date and interment will be South Florida National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bowers Hospice House and the home care nurses for their attentive care and comfort.
