Lloyd Ray Adkins, 78 of Hinton, died Saturday March 19, 2016 at his home following a long illness.

Born January 4, 1938 in Hinton, he was the son of the late John William & Hattie Ayers Adkins.

Mr. Adkins was a graduate of Hinton High School. He retired from FMRS in Hinton and was a former employee of both the WV Department of Highways and the Summers County Hospital. He was a member of the US Army National Guard. He was a member of the New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Hinton, enjoyed family and friends immensely and loved watching the WVU Mountaineers and the Chicago Cubs. He was a lifelong resident of Hinton.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Curtis, Ralph, John, Jr., and Calvin Adkins and also by two sisters, Donna Berry and Janelle Whitten.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Young Adkins; two sons, Kenneth Ray Adkins of Ravenna, OH and Michael L. Adkins of Hinton; three daughters, Patricia Kannal & husband David of Ravenna, OH, Karen Cole of Hinton and Rhonda Kay Adkins & husband Nicki of Hinton; one brother, Estell Adkins of Hinton; one sister, Rita Plumley & husband Fred of Hinton; five grandchildren, Nicholas Adkins & fiancee' Mellisa, Scotty Adkins & wife Jessica, Jason Cole and Jacob Cole & wife Teal; Eight great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday March 24, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Robert Wiseman and Roy Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Adkins Cemetery at Woodrumtown. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
