Obituary

Lonnie Charlton Mills, 87 of White Oak, passed away Wednesday Oct. 23, 2019 in Summers County A.R.H. Hospital following a long illness.

Born January 11, 1932 at White Oak, he was the son of Myrtle Mills Lilly.

Lonnie was a graduate of Shady Spring High School. He was butcher and meat cutter at the 'Old General Store' at Shady Spring and also Patton's Market and the Butcher Block. He retired from the Raleigh County School system as a cook and was an attendant for many years following retirement at Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley and Shady Spring. Lonnie was a member of Little Bluestone Primitive Baptist Church at Jumping Branch and was a kind and generous friend to all he met.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Bennett.

Survivors include two brothers, Ira Lilly and wife Joyce and Keith Lilly and wife Vicki, both of White Oak and one sister, Shirley Lester and husband Ernie of White Oak.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday Oct. 26, 2019 at the Simmons Cemetery at Mt. View with Elder Tommy Pack and Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Those wishing to attend the services are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
