After a courages battle with cancer, Loretta Annette Carter passed away on June 3, 2016 in Roanoke, Va at the age of 55 .She leaves behind her son Carl Hosea Carter(Heather) of Beckley WV. Her grandchildren Truth, Kimora, Hope.

Loretta was born on January 12 1961 in Hinton WV to father Carl and mother Margaret. She grew up in a large, loving family with two sisters and five brothers . She gave her life to lord at an early age and was baptized at Camon Baptists of Hinton WV and later joining Heart of God Ministries of Beckley WV. Loretta is a Hinton School graduate alum class of 1979. She attended Marshall University and Beckley College, for-filling her dream of becoming a Nurse and working until her illness prevented her from continuing in her cherished profession. She was also the assistant to the Director of the Muster Project in the 90's a after school program for at risk youth.

Loretta was a driven and creative person in all endeavors, with a strong passion for Jewelry making. She loved knowing that the ladies were wearing a Loretta Carter original . When diagnosed with lung cancer in 2013 yet her perseverance never wavered she remained dedicated to her family and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.

She is also survived by her mother Margaret Briggs of Roanoke Va , her father Carl E Carter, Sr. of Hinton WV , her maternal grandmother Clara Eloise Crockett of Roosevelt NY, her brother Robert (Eileen ) of New Lebanon Ohio, her sister Cerita of Beckley WV, her brother Tyrone of Woodbridge WV , her brother Harold of Roanoke Va , her brother Kevin of Queens NY, her sister Karen(Pops) Bronx NY and her brother Solon(Shadonda) of Winston Salem NC, her cherished aunts Jeanette Burwell of Roosevelt NY, Alice Sims of Notasulga Alabama, Mabel Johnson of Hempstead New York , Dreama Beauford (Ralph) of Roanoke VA , and her (special sister/friend) Debra Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends .She is preceded in death by her brother Carl E Carter Jr.

Loretta requested to be cremated. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday June 10, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton with Rev. Leo Moore officiating.The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the service time on Friday. Her ashes will be interred at the family plot at Esquire Cemetery in Hinton.
