Obituary

Lou Ann Spangler Sprinkel, 94 of Pipestem, passed away Wednesday May 18, 2022 at Summers County A.R.H. in Hinton.

Born January 20, 1928 at Pipestem, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Opal Martin Houchins.

Ms. Sprinkel was a graduate of Hinton High School. She retired from Maiden Form Corporation in Princeton with 37 years of service. She was also a homemaker, enjoyed gardening as long as health permitted and especially loved being with her family and friends. Ms. Sprinkel was a faithful member of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert W. Spangler, second husband, Rev. Whittier Sprinkel, one son, Frank Spangler.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family which included 8 children.

Survivors include three sons, Ron Spangler and wife Martha of Fairmont, WV, Bill Spangler and wife Susie of Pipestem and Jim Spangler of Pipestem. Three step-sons, Art Sprinkel of Rosedale, MD, Larry Sprinkel of Rocky Mount, VA, and Delbert Sprinkel of Virginia, and one step-daughter, Doris McCray of Myrtle Beach, SC.  Five grandchildren and several great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday May 23, 2022 at Cooks Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Houchins Cemetery at Pipestem. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.
