Obituary

Louverna Mae Brown, age 69, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was at her home and was surrounded by family and friends.

Born on October 18,1954 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Mary Angeline Steers Taylor.

"Verna Mae", as she was affectionately called by those who knew her, graduated from Hinton High School in 1972.  She obtained her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1980 and worked at Summers County Continuous Care.  She attended Chestnut Grove Baptist Church.   Verna Mae was very crafty and had a natural talent for creating beautiful floral arrangements.  She enjoyed decorating for weddings, showers, and parties. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends whom she loved with her entire being.

Besides her parents, Verna Mae was preceded in death by one grandchild and one niece, Autumn Taylor Ward.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 44 years, James Michael "Mike" Brown; daughter, Shelly Raeann Barnes (Jason) of Buckhannon, VA; son, Michael Todd Brown (Rebecca) of Hinton, WV; four grandchildren, Jacob Woodrum (Megan), Emily and Rebekah Barnes, and Khloeigh Brown; six step-grandchildren, Makaylah Harrah, Paisley, Sutton, Emryn and Georgia McLaughlin and Bentley Fitzko; two great-grandchildren, Julianna and Jace Woodrum; one step great-grandson, Levi Harrah; brother, Anthony Taylor (Rhonda) and nephew, Clinton; five brothers-in-law, Junior (Marie), Kenny (Charlene), Bill (Shirley),  and Larry Brown (Julie); cousins, Tommy Ward (Lucinda), Heidi Richmond (Dustin), and Scott Ward (Danielle), Beverly Hickman (Nathan)  and Raelynn, Clyde Steers (Pam Santana), Joann Cales (Shawn and Seanna), Virgina Cales (Buford) and children, Darell Tincher (Karen) and children, Larry Tincher (Betty) and children, Denvil Tincher, Doug Ames (Sheila) and children, Linda O'Bryan and children, Judy Harless and children,  Doug and Annalou McClure, and Tommy and Christine Adkins.
