Mack B. Richmond, 92 of Jumping Branch, went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 26, 2018 following a long illness.
Born June 5, 1926 at Pluto, WV he was the son of the late Broskey H. Richmond and Josephine B. Thompson Richmond Shoemaker.
Mack started his career with the C&O Railway Company as a brakeman, and retired as a conductor with a total of 43 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre, mostly in Germany. He was a member, and former deacon at Bluestone Baptist Church at Jumping Branch. Mack also sang gospel music at various venues and churches in the area. He was a past President of the Jumping Branch/Nimitz Senior Citizens, a member of the AF&AM Lodge in Hinton, former member of the Hinton Ruritan Club and a member of the UTU. Mack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and gardening, along with wood-working.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Richmond; an infant daughter, Norma Jean Richmond; a son, Michael Wayne Richmond and one sister, Nellie Fannin.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Basham and husband Daniel of Jumping Branch. Special niece and caregiver, Frances Hill and husband Randy of Trenton, FL. Three sisters, Rheda J. Turner and Juanita F. Morrison, both of Bronson, FL and Jerry J. Pierce of Melbourne, FL. Four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 2, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bill Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call from 4p.m. until 6p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be, John Bowling, Darrell Lilly, Ashby Maddy and Jerry Warden
