Madeline J. Hinkle, 93 of True, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday April 4, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley after complications from a fall.
Born May 14, 1923 in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Sylvia Frances Hanson Wickline.
Ms. Hinkle was a graduate of Trap Hill High School and attended Beckley College. She was a former employee of the Raleigh County Board of Education and also was the co-owner of the Hilltop Saddle Shop for 20 years. She was a homemaker and she served the Lord, her family, friends and community with love and joy! She believed and lived the Beatitudes, especially, "Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God." She attended James Chapel and Painters Chapel Methodist churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert A. Hinkle; a sister, Pearl Cooper and a brother, Shirley Dean Wickline.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane Hicks, her companion and caregiver and a son, David Hinkle and wife Shirley of Shady Spring. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kimberly Bratz and husband Paul of Pataskala, OH, Crystal Hicks of Daniels, the Hinkle boys, Allen Hinkle of Shady Spring and Jim Hinkle and wife Lisa of Shady Spring. Seven great grandchildren, the Bratz boys, Paul III and Blake, Crystal's children, Sierra Daily of Covington, VA and Alex Smith, who makes his home with his MawMaw and Nana, Diane, Jim and Lisa's children, Natalie, Carson Elisabeth and John David Hinkle. Three brothers also survive, Muriel Wickline of Forest Hill, Glen Wickline and wife Zella of Monroe, OR and Donald Wickline and wife Rose of Beckley. She is also survived by her dear friends, Sam and Peggy Meador of Pipestem.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday April 9, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. David Damewood officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, alongside her late husband Hubert, whom she loved so very much. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring her memory may be made to Painters Chapel or James Chapel Methodist Churches, or a charity of choice.
