Malcom T. "Tex" Harrah, age 77, of Sandstone, died at 9:25 am Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at his home.
Born, June 16, 1939, at Keeny's Knob, Summers County. He was the son of Neva Maxine Newcomb Harrah of Keeny's Knob, and the late Ira Hickman Harrah.
Mr. Harrah was a retire coal miner with 30 years service, having worked for Royal and Cliftop Coal Companies. He was also a former logger for Hutsenpillar Logging. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and farming. He was also a huge sports fan and dedicated Summers County Bobcat faithful. He was a lifelong resident of Summers County.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Harrah.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Holt Harrah. Three sons, Frank Holt and wife Sharon of Beckley, Keith and wife Rhonda of Forest Hill, and Philip "P.J." Harrah of Green Sulphur Springs. One daughter, Dottie Harrah of N. Charleston, SC. Three brothers, his twin, Rex Harrah and wife Bert of Harrisonburg, VA, John Harrah of Meadow Bridge, and Butch Harrah and wife Diane of Meadow Bridge. Two sisters, Doris Sanford and Darrell of Smoot, and Brenda Persinger and husband Bill Ray of Elton. Grandchildren, Brandy and Nikitta Holt, Cody, Caleb, and Nathaniel Levi Harrah. Great grandchildren, Kendal and Hadley Wickline, and Eli and Braydon McMilion. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Harrah Cemetery on Keeny's Knob with Pastor Clay O'Dell officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Pivont Funeral Home, in Hinton. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery on Saturday.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
