Mannie Overton Richmond, 70 of Freezeland Mt. died Thursday October 29, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital following brief illness.

Born May 23, 1950 at Pluto, WV he was the son of the late Hubert Basil and Mary Katherine Russell Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was a retired coal miner having worked for Peabody Energy and Patriot Coal Company. He was also a logger for many years. Mannie spent most days outdoors and loved his farm. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle and 4 wheelers, and spending time with and talking with family and friends. He also loved traveling and flea-marketing. Mannie was a kind hearted and loving man who never met a stranger and rarely spoke bad of anyone. He was a hard worker and always provided for his family no matter the challenges. He was loved very deeply and will be greatly missed by many. He lived most of his life on Freezeland Mtn and was of the Baptist faith.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Russell, and Jerry Richmond and one sister, Sarah Christine Richmond.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie Richmond of Beckley; two daughters, Christine Smith & husband Doug of Elk Knob and Tammy Stewart and companion Eric of Cleveland,  OH; four brothers, Ivan Richmod (Darlene) of Copley, OH, Omer Richmond (Sherry) of Danese , WV, Rex Richmond (Barbara) of Freezeland Mt. and Doug Richmond of Bragg, WV; four sisters, Georgia Southern of Great Falls, MT, Janice Meadows (Jimmy Ray) of Shady Spring, Linda Richardson (Earl) of Nallen , WV and Rebecca Richmond of Bean Station, TN; five grandchildren, Adrian and Marissa Handy and Dustin, Dillon and Cheyenne Smith; two great grandchildren, Ecense Smith and Serenity Graham.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday November 3, 2020 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Jeff Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Family Cemetery on Freezeland Mt. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
