Obituary

Marian B. Chandler Davis, age 92, of Hinton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Born in Hampton, Virginia on June 22, 1934, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter Bowman Chandler and Elsie Wade Drummond Chandler.

Marian dedicated her life to the care of others as a compassionate Registered Nurse. Throughout her distinguished career, she served patients at the C&O Hospital in Clifton Forge, Virginia, Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, Summers County ARH, and the Summers County Health Department. Her commitment to nursing extended far beyond hospital walls, as she actively helped guide future caregivers through her work with the LPN School.

Deeply involved in her community, Marian lent her time and talents to youth and faith programs. She was heavily involved with the Girl Scouts and served joyfully as the camp nurse for both the 4-H camp and the Bluestone Conference Center. She was a longtime, devoted member of the Bellepoint Baptist Church.

Outside of her community service, Marian was a gifted, passionate quilter whose beautiful creations remain a testament to her patience and care. She also loved exploring the world and creating memories traveling alongside her late husband, Richard Roland Davis.

In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Roland Davis; her brother, Robert Walker Chandler; and her sister, Walta Drummond Abbott.

She is survived by her three daughters, Charlotte Quinnette Davis of Hinton, WV, Pamela Ellen Davis of Frankford, WV, and Karen Kimberly Davis Hurst and her husband Jeff of Frankfort, KY. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Thomas Chandler of Utah; her sister, Jacqueline Cahoon of Virginia; her cherished granddaughter, Graceyn Emre Hurst; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at the Lilly-Crews Cemetery in Nimitz, WV, with Pastor Herschel Shamblin officiating. All those wishing to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
