Martha A. Gilbert passed away September 8, 2023 at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown, WV.  She was born March 2nd 1934 in Marie, WV to Harry and Eva Light and a long-time resident of Summers County, WV.  Martha was lover of music and singing and strongly supported her Hinton United Methodist Church and its choir for over six decades.  She was also very active with Hinton's Methodist Women group during that period leading and supporting their church circle programs.

Martha was also a great asset to her community as a volunteer working tirelessly to help establish and lead Cub and Boy Scout programs in the 70's as well as support youth sport programs in Hinton and provide daycare service for many families over the years.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by Raymond Gilbert, her husband of 37 years and her sister Joyce Kincaid.  She is survived by her three sons – Vince (wife Pat), Tim (wife Barbara) and David Gilbert and their families. Martha's "grand family" includes 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters plus a "great grand family" of 7 great grandsons and 10 great granddaughters plus 1 great great granddaughter and two great great grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor John Sauvage officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.  A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton.
