Martha M. Maddy, 74 of Nimitz, died Wednesday May 4, 2016 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a sudden illness.

Born April 23, 1942 in Charleston, WV she was the daughter of the late Robert and Nancy Hudson Adams.

Martha was a retired registered nurse from Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea. She was an active member of the WV Federation of Democratic Women and President of the Three Rivers Democratic Women. Martha was a member of Sand Knob United Methodist Church at Nimitz and was a Sunday School teacher at the church. She was very artistic, sharing her talents with family and friends. She volunteered at Jumping Branch Elementary School and also the Summers County Public Library.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Maddy; Children, Margaret Barbour & husband Russ of Huntington, WV, Lewis Meadows of South Point, OH, Nancy Hanlon & husband Andy Huntington, WV and John Maddy & wife Katie of Lexington, KY; one brother, Andy Adams & wife Catherine of Anderson, SC; one sister, Jane Weatherford of Warrenton, VA; Grandchildren, Teresa Meadows, Stephen Barbour, Becca Barbour, R.L. Meadows, Abby Hanlon, Adam Hanlon and Jack Maddy; great grandchildren, Ryan Bailey and Ahla Meadows also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 7, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Penny Bivens officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
