Mary Leigh Hogan Armendariz, 30 of Roanoke, VA formerly of Hinton passed away Tuesday December 18, 2018 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville following a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

Born October 11, 1988 in Beckley, she was the daughter of Ben P. Hogan and the late Stephanie Scott.

Mary Leigh was a 2007 graduate of Summers County High School and also a graduate of WVU with a degree in multi-disciplinary studies. She was employed by the Roanoke County School system as an instructional assistant for Autistic children. Mary Leigh enjoyed exercising, reading, watching T.V. and fishing with her Dad. She had an infectious personality will be missed by all who knew her. She was a member of River Valley Baptist Church at Forest Hill.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Stephanie Scott and also by a brother, Phillip Hogan.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 4 years, Luis Armendariz, Jr. Her father, Ben Hogan of Barger Springs; a sister, Stephanie Hogan of Roanoke, VA; a brother, Chris Gilkeson and wife Kim of Roanoke, VA; niece, Savannah Biggs of Roanoke, VA; nephew, Connor Gilkeson of Roanoke, VA; Father-in-law, Louie Armendariz of Beckley and mother-in-law, Vickie Armendariz of Hilldale.

Services to celebrate the life of Mary Leigh will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday December 22, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Mark Shrader and Lowell O'Dell officiating. Burial will follow in the Barger Springs Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
